Finding Peace at Filoli Garden

Spring has Sprung! 🌸

Today marks the beginning of Mental Health Awareness Month, a time when we're reminded of the importance of caring for our minds as diligently as we do our bodies. In this spirit, I want to share a personal haven that has become a sanctuary for my mental well-being—Filoli Gardens. Nestled beside the Crystal Springs and Watershed Reservoirs, this enchanting spot in the Bay Area feels like a little patch of heaven on earth.

It’s a place where the peninsula's natural beauty unfolds in a breathtaking display. My first visit a few years ago was transformative. The gardens offer a unique blend of stillness and seasonal change, a reminder of nature’s relentless beauty and resilience.

Spring is magical at Filoli, as it marks the arrival of my favorite blooms—irises, and tulips, which are succeeded by the lush peonies and roses of late spring. Each visit brings new colors and fragrances, reflecting the garden's ever-changing tapestry.

More than just a garden, Filoli is a link to cherished memories of my grandmother’s backyard in Berkeley, filled with similar blooms and the comforting shade of a lemon tree. It’s a connection to a simpler, joyful time and a reminder of the small, often overlooked pleasures of life. Whether it’s the chirping of birds, the vibrant flowers in the breeze, or the tranquil solitude, Fioli encourages us to pause and savor the moment.

This Mental Health Awareness Month, let's commit to finding our own Filoli Gardens. Whether it's a walk on the beach, a hike through verdant trails, a meal at a restaurant, or a reflective visit to a museum, these experiences are vital. They provide solace, refresh our spirits, and remind us that each day is a new opportunity for joy and renewal.
